I made it to London! Flying from Montreal was the easiest Atlantic crossing I’ve ever had. There were just a few seats left on the flight I had a stand-by ticket booked for. British Airways was kind enough to find me a spot and bump me up to Premium Economy Class too!
I caught the express train into Paddington Station and from there wandered towards Hyde Park. My friend Nikki came to meet me in a coffee shop and we got caught up on each others’ lives since we last saw each other three years ago in Glasgow, Scotland.
Last night I met up with Jeff & Toby, two of my crew mates from last year’s sailing in Portugal & Spain. We spent the evening at the Betjamin Arms Pub at King’s Cross/St. Pancras Station sharing all sorts of stories. I crashed over at Jeff’s place for the night and this morning he took me where time starts - to the Prime Meridian! We toured the Royal Observatory and wandered down the hill to the Queen’s House & National Maritime Museum. Lots of action down there as the filming of the next Pirates of the Caribbean is going on just next door. We passed by where the Cutty Sark is being rebuilt. Too bad someone left the Hoover plugged in overnight - it caught fire three years ago. Jeff showed me his childhood neighbourhood and then we found a place to grab lunch.
