Sunday, June 21 Marettimo to Trapani to Favignana.
Ross & I departed Marettimo in the morning, on our way to Trapani. The plan was to pick up Ross’s friends Malcolm & Valerie who had just arrived at Palermo and taken the bus to Trapani to join us for about a week of sailing. They’ve never sailed before so this was quite the adventure for them.
Reading the Italian Waters Pilot Guide, Trapani sounded like quite an interesting place, however upon arrival we weren’t so impressed by the marina. We got there around 15:00 and soon after located Mal & Val. We all decided that we’d rather continue on to our next destination and bet on it being a nicer place to spend then night than Trapani. Favignana was much nicer to spend the night. The marina staff guiding us to the mooring point revealed themselves as clowns, so it made for a frustrating arrival. However, once we got settled we wandered into the village and found a place to have some pizza. I went for the ham & mushroom which was pretty good, but still not as good as the pizza I had for dinner in Rome!
