Thursday, June 25 San Nicola l'Arena to Cefalu

Here in Cefalu I’ve finally been able to get caught up on my blog, thanks to a steady Internet connection and the time to sit down and write and sort photos. Though it’s quite touristy here, it’s a nice town.

After we arrived and got settled I was keen to go swimming. Walking towards town I saw a place where some other people were bathing on the rocks. The water felt cool on my feet at first but after plunging into the the deep, clear blue water it was so refreshing! I’d wished I had brought along some goggles or a snorkel mask because it looked incredible. I went back to the boat for a shower and then wandered into town. I was really hungry so stopped at a place with wi-fi and opted to try their minestrone & pasta soup. It was delicious! I was able to write for a while and post some photos to my blog & Instagram before heading back to the boat for dinner with the others. Malcolm had made some really nice gnocchi which we ate with a pistachio-garlic olive oil dressing.

I walked back to town afterwards, back to the same café, and had some tea while I continued writing. The network connection lasted until just after midnight, when I was ready to head back anyway. Along the way I heard some live music ahead. I kept walking to where some students were playing guitar and singing “Zombie” by The Cranberries. I hung around to listen then chatted with them for a bit before continuing home to the boat. It was very pleasant to walk the streets so late at night as it was so quiet and peaceful. A nice finish to the day! Cefalu has been one of my favourite places so far.
