Wednesday, July 8 Poros to Argostolion and back

Today Ross rented a car and we went on a short road trip from Poros to Argostolion. We had to get some special papers for the boat being in Greek waters since arriving from Italy. The port authorities were very helpful and friendly but we also went to the police station to see about getting a stamp for my passport. They were a grumpy lot. I didn’t have to get one either as they said it’s not required if I already had a stamp within the Schengen area. After all that business we drove to the airport and waited for Lisa & Joe to arrive on their flight from London.

The countryside we got to see on the road trip was gorgeous. The drivers here seem a bit reckless but we survived the trip. We stopped at a café on the way back and had a quick sandwich. The view of the coastline from the café was really nice. Once back in Poros I took Lisa & Joe for a walk and showed them where the beach was. I went for a short swim. It was windy and the water wasn’t as clear but the swim felt nice anyway.

We all went for dinner together in the evening, back at the same restaurant by the marina that Ross & I ate at our first night in Poros. I had a souvlaki dish and some more saganaki.

It’s already Wednesday—that means I only have another week in Greece before returning to Dubai! I’m enjoying my time away but will be ready to go back.
